The second day of the final exams is over, and everything seems under control until now. However, the worse is not over yet, as Physics and Mathematics, the two most difficult subjects, are still on. With a music awards red carpet, you just never know what you are going to get. However, with this year’s Billboard Music Awards, I was pleasantly surprised. At least for the most part… you know there’s always a couple crazies in every crew! Between gowns that I am severely jealous of {hello Carrie!!}, beautiful makeup {hello Zooey!!}, and super funky fun hair {hello Lacey!!}.

5:38 pm. Fogged in at the beach, we drove up into the mountains until we found sun and an impromptu solar eclipse viewing party. This shot of Jay with the binoculars is my fave! Even tho we didn’t get the full ring around the moon in So Cal, it was still awesome!

I haven’t done much in the past week to generate much inspirational hatred or annoyance and so my scathing humour is offering up little in the way of wryly observed witterings based on the cretins I’ve met. A group of students and professors from Yale University have found a fungi in the Amazon rainforest that can degrade and utilize the common plastic polyurethane (PUR). As part of the university’s Rainforest Expedition and Laboratory educational program, designed to engage undergraduate students in discovery-based research, the group searched for plants and cultured the micro-organisms within their tissue.

One thing people feel they have free rein to constantly comment on, is what language I speak in my home and to my partner. The most common refrain is, ‘You are in Germany, you should speak German to each other’ and other variations on the theme. Frankly, I tend to feel telling me what language to speak to my partner is like me telling you how often you should be having sex with yours.

The term “airhead” certainly carries less-than-endearing connotations. It’s one of those things I’ve always shied away from. Pity never moved me to commiseration, and thankfully, my level head kept me out of their camp.

But in the fall of 2009 I bought a car, and in so doing became an airhead. I didn’t realize it at the time; quite to the contrary, I thought myself exquisitely fortunate.
